The new corona virus SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19) appeared in China in December 2019 and is the cause of a pandemic that has affected almost the whole world.The disease manifests itself in the form of severe respiratory symptoms and fever,which can lead to death.The aim of this paper is to analyze the importance of implementing sanitary and hygienic measures in the local community to prevent the occurrence and spread of pandemics caused by the new corona virus - COVID 19.Analysis of the situation and implementation of sanitary and hygienic measures was based on monitoring and data collection and processing in connection with the appearance and spread of a new corona virus in the area of the city of Prijedor in the period from March 10, 2020 to May 15, 2021.
In the area of the city of Prijedor,immediately after the appearance of the first case of the new corona virus,an organized and systematic approach was taken to implement measures to protect and prevent the appearance and spread of the new corona virus by health institutions and other competent entities and the population.These measures were aimed at implementing measures to prevent the emergence and spread of
new coronavirus ordered by the competent institutions, establishing health surveillance,quarantine, implementing intensive health and epidemiological measures,disinfection of public institutions and public areas, intensive implementation of public hygiene measures.
The implementation of operational sanitary and hygienic measures to protect and prevent the spread of the new coronavirus by health institutions,public companies and institutions took place in accordance with the imposed measures and recommendations of the competent institutions of the Republika Srpska. Efficient and timely implementation of sanitary and hygienic measures has significantly contributed to the prevention and reduction of nCoV transmission and a significantly smaller number of patients in the city of Prijedor compared to other major urban centers.
