Design and Fabrication of Hockey Stick using Natural Fibre Reinforced Epoxy Composite

1. Vishnu Kumar Palaniswamy

ABSTRACT- The word “composite” means consisting of two or more distinct parts. Thus a material having two or more distinct consistent materials or phases may be considered as a composite material. A natural fibre plant are availability in India such as sisal, jute, coir, pine apple, ramie, bamboo, banana etc., has focused on the development of natural fibre composite. Sisal leaf fibre, which is rich in cellulose, relatively inexpensive and abundantly available, has the potential for polymer reinforcement. The present study investigated the flexural, water absorption and impact behaviors of Sisal fibre reinforced epoxy composites as a function of fibre loading and fibre length. The experimental of flexural, water absorption and impact tests were carried out using natural sisal fibre reinforced epoxy composite material. Composite used here is Un-Treated 3mm Epoxy composites (UT3EC). In this paper, the sisal fibre reinforced epoxy composite is fabricated as a hockey stick which has the property of low cost, light weight and biodegradable fibres.

Keywords : Sisal fibre, Epoxy resin, UT3EC.
