Modern industrial infrastructure and technological advancement rely heavily on an extensive spectrum of mechanical systems, ranging from large-scale manufacturing facilities and transport networks to high-precision robotic devices. As traditional machinery undergoes a paradigm shift toward comprehensive automation and cyber-physical architecture, the demand for operational reliability becomes paramount. Crucial to all these heterogeneous assemblies is the continuous efficiency of primary dynamic components, such as bearings and power transmission systems, which fundamentally depend on advanced lubrication technology. Moving away from conventional manufacturing, this paper delivers a comprehensive analysis of the global lubricant market and modern production trends. Special emphasis is placed on evaluating diverse base oil processing methodologies, shifting the focus from historical solvent extraction toward advanced catalytic innovations and molecular refining. Furthermore, this study examines how targeted compositional modifications enhance the fundamental performance characteristics of base oils, aligning them with stringent contemporary industrial and environmental standards.
