Increasing the number of animals per farm, leads to problems with proper storage the manure and manipulation with it. Before us is the adoption appropriate EU directive which is regulating this issue, which will lead to even more problems for farmers.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are opportunities for the production of biogas from cattle farms and use this biogas for production electricity and thermal energy. This energy would be used for the farmers or sold in the energy market.
At this time, in Bosnia and Hercegovina there are many problems for the mass production of energy from biogas: construction of the plant (concrete work), lack of knowledge, lack of clear legislation and low cost of purchase of energy obtained from renewable sources.
Aim of paper is show the potential, possibilities and problems for the production of electricity and thermal energy from livestock manure on farm with 250 head of cattle.
