BIOMASS AS ENERGY POTENTIAL OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES IN THE WORLD AND THE EU

All countries of the world, including the EU countries and Bosnia-Herzegovina, have to resolve the main issue of energy stability and energy security in the last few years. Economic and social development of each country depends on energy security and stability. If a country does not have a correct policy in the business energy sector, it is not possible to achieve industrial and economic progress. Energy is essential for development of any country in the world, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. In order to reach the objectives to which every society strives (clean environment, high standard of living, prosperity, sustainable economy) and thus preserve the population's health, energy represents one of the mechanisms in achieving aforementioned goals. Energy is a mechanism for the achievement of ultimate goals such as: sustainable economy, a clean environment, high living standard, prosperity and the health of population. The paper presents the development and implementation of renewable energy sources: wind-power, solar energy, small hydropower plants and biomass in the world and the European Union. We considered and presented an increased trend of renewable energy sources in the total share of energy production with the trend of reduction of fossil fuels in energy production. The paper focuses on the production of renewable energy from biomass in the world, the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina. A graphic organizer shows the trend of energy production from biomass obtained from: agriculture, forestry and waste. We present the possibility of creating new jobs and employment using biomass as a renewable energy resource.
