Micro and nano turning are types of highly precise material machining methods with chip removal used to machine small diameter miniature rotary parts on a micro and nano scale. In micro and nano scraping, a very small layer (quantity) of material is removed from the surface of the rotating workpiece, with a diameter ranging from several hundred nanometers to several thousand micrometers, using a carving tool with a blade, most often to obtain the desired shape, dimension or surface quality.
Processing parameters (cutting speed, feed, cutting depth, etc.) in micro and nano turning vary depending on the technological requirements, the size of the lathe, the material of the workpiece and the material and shape of the cutting tool, whereby the cutting depth and dimensions of the cutting tool are significantly smaller than in classic turning.
In this paper provides an overview and trends in the development of micro and nano turning in the processing of modern composite materials. The determination of the mathematical model and the prediction of tool wear, functions of cutting forces and cutting temperature depending on the cutting mode and geometric parameters of the cutting tool when scraping various modern composite materials on a micro and nano scale were analyzed.
