In this study we apply modeling technique for optimal design of tissue engineered vascular graft. An optimal scaffold for tissue engineered applications should mimic the mechanical and functional properties of the extracellular matrix of those tissues to be regenerated. Tissue engineered vascular grafts take months to culture and require extensive graft manipulation. We designed a bioreactor for small diameter tubular and completely cellular vascular grafts. Electrospining technology was used for fiber materials. We modeled electrospinning as viscoelastic flows. It includes the solution of a coupled set of partial differential equations for the conservation of mass, momentum and energy, and constitutive equations for density, internal energy, heat flux and stress. Mathematical model for bioreactor and electrospinning technology was compared with experimental research in our laboratory.
