Stroke rehabilitation is the process by which patients with disabling strokes undergo treatment to help them return to normal life as much as possible by regaining and relearning the skills of everyday living. There are some management planes for stroke rehabilitation. The aim of our study was to determine the level of stroke management in our society.
Material and method: We’ve made an inquiry for 20 physiatrics from one meeting of their association. Positive responses were used to assess the implementation of rehabilitation in the Republic of Macedonia: 0-5 very low level, 6-10 low level, 11-15 intermediate level, 16-20 intermediate high level, 21-27 high level. The inquiry content refers to the perceptions of people interviewed for applicability of rehabilitation process for persons with stroke in Republic of Macedonia, and it is made according to the management plan for rehabilitation for persons with stroke from the U.S. and Australian Association website for stroke treatment.
Results; positive responses for given activity in our health system from 27 questions are 14 (52%). Among respondents, 14 (52%) answeres were significantly positive, while T=0.24, p> 0.05, which is not significant according to all answers from 27 questions. Negative responses are not significantly represented too.
Discussion: Standards for stroke managements is definite in 2008, the last guidelines for stroke from 2010 year, included previous standards plus community rehabilitation and software use, and healthy life with physical activity. In Republic of Macedonia there are no protocols by the Ministry of Health that will control patients’ procedures with stroke. Reforms in the Health system are working on introduction of these standards from Great Britain.
Conclusion: We have medium level of stroke management.
