In the course of operation of the catalytic converter certain problems arise which directly affect the efficiency and durability of the catalytic devices. The researchers made so much effort to find technical solutions that will enable smooth operation of the catalytic converter. This paper brings an explanation of the two basic problems in the operation of the catalytic converter and an overview of possible technical solutions which have resulted from scientific and researching activities. The proposed technical solutions show direction for further developments of the catalytic converters.
