A comprehensive review of contemporary facades from different parts of the world, created after 2000, reveals that the exceptionally good physical-mechanical and attractive aesthetic and design properties of stone material, as well as its durability, have determined a large number of architects and designers to realize their creations of building facade surfaces through architectural projects. This research presents examples of buildings with successfully designed facades by great creators of today's global eco-urban architecture scene: Daniel Libeskind, Renzo Piano, Alvaro Siza, Kengo Kuma and others, who perfectly understood the essential, performance value of decorative, diverse stone cladding for the aesthetic improvement and longevity of facades. By skillfully choosing a natural, durable stone material, they have provided significant conceptual guidelines for designers, conservation experts and engineers to further influence the new conceptual development of facade engineering, the use and preservation of stone facades. Whether they are objects from the cultural and historical heritage or modern architectural physical structures.
