Abstract:

Optical fibers and optical components are made from a large number of various materials. Optical fibers can be made from glass, plastic and PCS (Plastic-Clad-Silica) materials, while certain optical components also have ceramic parts. Propagation of a laser beam through an optical fiber depends on the size, structure and nature of the light beam emitted into the fiber and the constitution of the optical fiber. That is why materials play a significant role in many optical applications and their components, which relates to the quality of optical communications and optical sensors.
This paper analysis effects of the pulse Nd3+:YAG laser beam on certain samples of optical components and optical fibers made from various materials, and the possibilities of their application in sensor and other technologies of application. Experimental part of the paper can present the basis in the process of laser sintering.
