ENSO is variation of the sea surface temperature (El Nino) and the air pressure (Southern Oscillation) at the equatorial Pacific. The environmental and socioeconomic impacts of this phenomenon are significant worldwide. In the simple nonlinear Suarez-Schopf model, a strong feedback in the coupled ocean-atmosphere system is included. In the modified Suarez-Schopf model we get: (1) increasing of instability with increasing of strength of the ocean-atmosphere interaction, (2) approximate description of El Nino events from 1980 till 2019, (3) different amounts of positive and negative temperature anomaly, in approximate agreement with measured amounts.
