Introduction: Recording jaw relation is one of the most important phases during prosthodontics therapy. As a result of inadequate recording jaw relation, rough errors in occlusion of final restorations may occur. Polyvinyl siloxan is material from the group of addition silicons, and it is formulated to provide enhanced accuracy and reduce discomfort to the patient during jaw relation recording. This material achieves an adequate hardness in 60 seconds, and doesn't cause thermal stimulus as it is a case with wax procedures. The aim of this paper is to present application of polyvinyl siloxan during production of removable partial denture.
Case report: A female patient, 60 years old, came to our clinic for prosthetic treatment. After diagnostic procedures were done, indication for lower removable partial denture was made. After several clinical and laboratorial phases had been done recording jaw relation was preformed. During the recording jaw relation clinician must consider the impact of factors affecting the stability of the physiological rest position, the accuracy of central relation position and the potential impact of resilience of the mucosa. Resilience of the mucosa is not the same in all regions of the jaws. Over the retentive part of framework wax tray was placed. From the occlusal part of the tray a few millimeters of wax was removed forming place for polyvinyl siloxane material (Deli Bite ® HappiDen, South Korea). After the material had been placed bite registration was preformed.
Conclusion: This procedure prevents mucosa compression and occlusal errors of definitive restorations. Economic reasons and lack of training of dental technicians might be causes of rare usage of this material.
