Introduction: Research of batrachofauna in Bosnia and Herzegovina started with PhD thesis of Moellendoff (1873), who made the first list of six species of amphibians. Later, many of zoologists of Ottoman-Hungarian period and many others until today, have found 18 species of amphibians. Pelophylax lessonae (Camerano, 1882) was never included on this list.
Material and methods: In period from March, 2014 to October, 2014, the wide area of northern Bosnia and Herzegovina was investigated from the mouth of Una River to the mouth of Bosna River. In found populations, individuals were caught with hand nets, and after identification and photographing, they were released. Individuals were identified by morphological features indicated on the basis of DNA analyses on a wide sped sample in Croatia (Dušan Jelić, pers.comm., 02 October 2014). Identification was made by available literatures comparing the following features: size and shape of metatarsal tubercle, colour of vocal sac (only with males), ventral body colour, size of interocular space compared to the radius of the eyelid, hind limbs length relative to the body and distance between the hind limbs.
Results: On fieldtrips authors have noted the existence of the species at the following locations: Gradina Donja, Orahova, Srbac and Miloševac.
Conclusion: Given data suggest that species exist in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina (Posavina region and the lower course of the Una River), which makes a Bosnian batrachofauna enriched with new species.
