Uneployment, as one of the biggest social problems in Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and
Herzegovina and wider, is subject of this paper. It is not only about economic, but also about social and individual psyhological problem which is often the cause of other problems in a society. The paper gives an overview of the problem of unemployment in Republic of Srpska during the past few years. Post-war and post-social economy of Republic of Srpska, which is characterized by the decay of the large manufacturing sectors, corruption and lack of the rule of law in the privatisation is a process which is greatly burdened by high unemployment rate which affects the whole society. The first part of the work is based on the introduction of unemployment and its different forms, as well as its characteristics. In the second part I tried to provide an overview of unemployment of different sectors, local communities, the level of education and other important categories, using tables and charts for the easier observation of the problem. The paper also analyses the causes of the mentioned problem and gives recommendations for increasing of the employment in this entity. The recommendations are based on the engagement more resources in the real sector, which despite the predispoditions have not been maximaly used.
