eKonferencije.com: ELECTRON BEAM WELDING

ELECTRON BEAM WELDING

1. Dragoslav Dobraš, Mašinski fakultet Univerziteta u Banjoj Luci, Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina

When you says the electron beam, thoughts to the something dangerous and extraterrestrial, which was coming from space and affects negatively on life on Earth. However, it is the electron beam source of high heat density, 0.5 to 10 kW/mm2, which was created by focusing the electron beam (radiation energy) and used for fusion welding. The kinetic energy of electrons accelerated in the electric field of high voltage up to 600 kV, is converted into heat upon impact of electrons on the workpiece. Electron beam welding is performed without filler material in a single pass, in vacuum or in an inert atmosphere, in chambers that restrict the size of the part. Used to connect: the difficult to soluble metals (eg, tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, niobium), the metals which are easily oxidized (eg, titanium, beryllium, zirconium) as well as to connect the aluminum, steel and ceramic. It is possible to weld the work pieces, of different materials and different thicknesses (up to 300 mm). This is a set of welding process and is only used in the preparation of certain products.
