Lustre file system is an open source system , with high-performance built by Cluster File Systems Inc. and is a distributed file system that eliminates the performance problems , the availability and scalability , which are present in the traditional distributed files system .
Lustre is an architecture that combines open standards , Linux operating system and a network of reliable innovative protocols. This neutral system produces a high I / O throughput in clusters , environments with separate data and an independence from the data positioning on physical equipments. Certainly, Lustre provides protection from failures and rapid coverage of the mistakes through cluster re-configuration .
The Scope and the field of the application : the purpose of using this file system is that it offers a number of benefits that are necessary in processing environments based on clusters. The performance, scalability and availability are the topics on which it is based the cluster system. The application areas of this system are very large where can be mentioned experimental laboratories, in universities , in business companies, etc.
