TRENDS IN INDUSTRIAL LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION AND MEAT PROCESSING IN REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA

One of the strategic objectives of economic policy of any government is to improve food production, in order to reach the higher level of self-sufficiency in food. Thus very important resource for food production is meat and protein production, which implies that this production should be given adequate attention in creating legal and institutional framework. In RS livestock production and especially cattle and sheep production, have a long tradition. The potential for the development of livestock production is a major, taking into consideration the available land type resources.
This research includes analysis of the production of meat and meat products in the RS for the period 2006-2010 year. Also, it annual livestock supply was monitored, annual installed capacity of meat processing, their usage level, as well as import and export of meat and meat products.
