This paper presents a method to determine the specific energy consumption used in regulating the flow rate of pump systems, operating with centrifugal pumps, by using three methods of regulation – the frequency, throttle and bypass methods. In this work, the impact of the static head in the system on the specific energy consumption was investigated. The results show that if you increase the relative static head of the system, and use the frequency method for the regulation of the flow rate the energy efficiency increases and if the bypass method is used the energy efficiency decreases.
