The traditional methods for orthopedic prosthesis production is nowdays increasingly replaced with modern methods, in which the main role plays the technology. In this way, the quality of orthopedic devices is improved, manufacturing time is drasticly shorter, the devices are less expensive, and those prosthetics are much more comfortable for patients, which is also very important. Production of molds for orthopedic devices is carried out by an automated processing of polyurethane on special tools that generates a great amount of polyurethane dust. This dust is harmfull for the environment, but influences the process and the quality of the manufactured orthopedic prosthesis, also. This paper presents the design and manufacture of the dust remover, whose installation will help to obtain a functional, efficient and safe solution that will meet all customer requirements, all the requirements of othophedic prosthesis manufacturers, as well as all safety and regulations on environmental protection. Special attention was given to automatisation the dust removal process.
