The preference for this topic derives mainly from the recent events in relation to the refugee influx and the question of their integration in the receiving countries. To present this matter accurately, official documents adopted by international organizations, such as the United Nations General Assembly and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees have been taken into consideration. This paper presents an overview of the existing and contemporary policies for integration, as well as theoretical framework by experts in the field. Integration has been proved to be a highly complex process which requires a lot of commitment, not only by the authorities and the refugees in question, but also by the European population itself.
