The density of drive-in/drive-through pallet racking systems as multi–depth storage system can be additionally improved with automatization of handling process. Invention of pallet runner cart-radio shuttle and mother shuttle brings speed up of handling process within racking tunnel with easy position and reposition of storage units. Instead of usage of conventional forklift truck outside racking system, fully automatizaton can be achieved with implementation of vertical reciprocating conveyor. Pallet runner carts loads, carries and conveys good on pallet in and out of deep storage drive–in/drive-through tunnels. Mother shuttle is a machine that moves shuttle at the front of the various rack channels. The storage units are taken to storage levels by one or more vertical reciprocating conveyors. Vertical reciprocating conveyors can be design to move only pallet runner cart with storage unit between storage levels. In other configuration, mother shuttle together with radio shuttle can be moved between storage levels. Driving mechanism of vertical reciprocating conveyor can be high-speed wire or chain electrical hoist or hydraulic actuating mechanism. Due to stability different configuration of guiding columns of vertical reciprocating conveyor are used. This new system of automatization in multi depth pallet racks allows further increase in productivity, reduce damages and improve safety and ergonomics. It can fully replaced classic storage automated system with storage cranes. This paper presents new technical solution for automated storage system, its advantages and application fields.
