Parasites occupy an important place in the entirety of infectious diseases and the prevalence in Albania is high. This study was initiated to evaluate the vulnerability by parasites of children of Shëngjergj/Tirana District, correlated with socio-economic conditions.
Methods: This screening conducted during the spring, fall seasons 2015, included 93 school children 6-14 years old. Health status was assessed through analysis of individual personal data and the appearance of clinical signs. Used methods were the concentration, the sedimentation, and permanent stains (Ziehl-Neelsen, Dobell, Blu-methylene).
Results: The prevalence of affected children with parasites, resulted 28% without significant difference of age and gender. The positive analyzed samples displayed the presence of infestation by Giardia lamblia (46.1%), Entamoeba spp. (34.6%), Blastocystis hominis (53.8%).
Conclusions: The socio-economic level and in raising hygiene and sanitation of the area has been significantly affecting the state of children's health above. Is necessary the current application of next programs and campaigns for control, information, education and health communication associated with personal hygiene and community, with the aim of improving and maintaining the health of children and the entire population in all urban areas.
