Neuritis,Atrophy of the papillae nervi optics,tumors
Neuritis can affect the whole optic nerv or some of its parts.Inflammation of optic nerv divided depending on the localisation,optalmic image and inflammation.Etiology of optic nerv inflammation is different.Know etiological factors are:inflamatory diseases of CNS,acuta and chronic systemic infections,inflammation of orbit,degenerative diseases etc.
In the diagnosis of the optic nerv inflammation the most important test is test of visual acuity,flurescein angigraphy and color vision.
To determine location of inflammation patient needs to do tomography,magnet resonance and VEP.
Type of some inflammation of the optic nerv
Neuritis
Papilitis
Neuroretinitis
Retrobulbar neuritis
Atrophy papillae n.o.
Atrophy may occur as result of different patological conditions that lead to deterioration of axons of retinal ganglion cells.Atrophy of the optic nerv be divided on primary and secondary.Atrophy of the optic nerv follows decrease in vision.
Tumors
Optic nerv tumors are uncommon.There are divided on primary and secondary.
Conclusion
Timely diagnosis of these diseases can be made by detailed internist,neurological,radiological and funtional examination.
