All living organisms create oils which can be used as platform for new chemicals and materials. Particularly interesting are algal oils whose composition can be controlled by genetic modification of algae. Design of oils coupled with the design of chemicals and polymers create a wide platform for sustainable circular economy and efficient use of natural resources. Various methods used to produce interesting products are discussed
