Occupational therapy (OT) is independent profession that promotes health and well-being. One can become occupational therapist at numerous higher education institutions around the world.The aim of the research is to examine OT students opinion on OT status in Republika Srpska (RS) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), reasons for studying OT, employment opportunities and pursuing career after graduation. The cross-sectional study included 52 OT students at School of applied medical sciences Prijedor, 2nd year 14 (29.2%), 3rd year 22 (45.8%), 4th year 12 (25%). For research purposes, we used the anonymous questionnaire method. Using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests, we found that students have negative stance on the status of OT in RS and BiH (38.24%) with the highest percentage among 3rd year students (47,85%). They think that the general status of OT is poor (45.8%) and with 54.54% among the 3rd year students. The main reason for studying OT is desire to help people.In order to improve the status of OT in the country, they suggest spreading OT scope of practice at all levels of health and social care. They express an affirmative and positive views on the status of OT in EU countries, with greater job opportunities than in RS and BiH.
